Postdoc in ‘Protein soft lithography and their characterization’ at the National Nanotechnology Laboratory (Dr. Dario Pisignano), Lecce, Italy. The research activity is based on patterning biological molecules, like DNA and proteins, at surfaces, on fabrication of nanostructures and on the interconnection of inorganic substrates with self-organized biomolecules for the development of novel molecular electronic devices.
She focuses on chemical adsorption methods allowing stable and controlled immobilization of macromolecules on silicon dioxide surface and preventing denaturation and loss of functional properties.
She gained experience in processes such as surface functionalization by means of chemical modifiers to allow the specific binding of protein exposed residues or oligonucleotides, self-assembled monolayers using different type of molecules and different substrates, soft lithography to fabricate microstructures for biological applications and in characterization techniques such as scanning probe and fluorescence microscopy.
